Questions owners ask

How much is PSV insurance for an Uber car in Kenya?

Comprehensive PSV cover for a ride-hailing car typically costs 4.5–7% of the car’s value a year — about KSh 54,000 to 84,000 for a KSh 1.2 million car, before levies. Third-party-only PSV cover starts from about KSh 7,574 a year.

Can I use private insurance for Uber or Bolt?

No. A car carrying paying passengers needs PSV cover. Using a private policy for ride-hailing is a breach of the policy, and the insurer can refuse a claim.

What levies are added to a motor insurance premium in Kenya?

The Policyholders Compensation Fund levy (0.25% of the premium), the insurance training levy (0.2%) and stamp duty (KSh 40). Ask for the all-inclusive figure when comparing quotes.
