Questions people ask
Which car uses the least fuel in Kenya?
Of the popular imports, the Toyota Yaris (hybrid) (28 km/L real-world) and Toyota Axio (hybrid) (24.7 km/L) go furthest on a litre. At Nairobi’s 214.03 a litre that is about KSh 7.64 per km.
Why is real-world consumption lower than the catalogue figure?
Japan’s official tests (JC08, WLTC) are run in a laboratory. Owners’ own fill-up logs, which this calculator uses, come out noticeably lower — and Nairobi’s stop-start traffic, air conditioning and an older engine usually lower it further.
How do I work out my own car’s consumption?
Fill the tank to the top and reset the trip meter. Next time, fill to the top again: kilometres on the trip meter divided by litres you put in is your km per litre. Do it over two or three tanks for a fair figure.
Consumption: e燃費 (e-nenpi.com), owners’ real-world fill-up logs in Japan — per car, the median over versions made 2012 or later, two-wheel drive, automatic or CVT. Prices: EPRA, 15 September – 14 October 2026.
