How EPRA sets these prices
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority calculates a maximum retail price for every town once a month, under section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No. 192 of 2022. The prices include VAT. Each set runs from the 15th to the 14th of the following month.
EPRA kept petrol, diesel and kerosene unchanged from the previous month.
Questions people ask
How much is petrol in Kenya today?
From 15 September – 14 October 2026, EPRA's maximum price for super petrol is KSh 214.03 a litre in Nairobi, KSh 210.87 in Mombasa and KSh 213.69 in Kisumu. It ranges from KSh 210.78 in Kaloleni to KSh 234.68 in Mandera.
When do fuel prices change in Kenya?
EPRA reviews the maximum pump prices once a month. Each set runs from the 15th of one month to the 14th of the next, and is announced on the 14th.
Why is fuel dearer in some towns?
EPRA sets a maximum price for every town on its list, and the further a town is from the depots that supply it, the more transport is added. That is why Mandera and the far north pay the most and towns near Mombasa and the western depots the least.
Can a petrol station charge more than the EPRA price?
No. These are maximum retail prices: a station may sell below them but not above. The prices already include VAT.
